It's Sunday and I'm at work trying to finish a report that is due to the department on Wednesday.
I haven't been able to get on the blog because my computer has a virus and I need to get it fixed but haven't taken the time.
I can't believe our little ice-cruncher, Kimbo, is engaged! I wish her all the happiness. Can't wait to come to Texas for the wedding.

Thing 25 - Podcasts cont
Some libraries are doing podcast of storytimes but I'm not sure how many children would enjoy listening. I personally would like the pictures.
I do like listening to NPR and other radio shows.

Thing 24 Podcasts
I'm doing this THING at work and I'm having difficulty. I keep getting blocked by Websense. I'll try signing up for feed in my Google Reader account when I get home.
Thing 30
Done!
I learned a lot but I didn't master anything. I did most of the exercises at home because I didn't have time at work.
I would like to thank Cindy Hart for pulling this program together. It was a worthwhile experience for me.

Thing 29 - Learning 2.0 Experience
This experience made me realize how much I don't know about Web 2.0! It has also given me the confidence to keep exploring and learning - you're never too old to learn something new!!
I think I liked the image generators and YouTube the best.

Thing 28 - Rollyo
Interesting....my own personal search engine. I'll play later when I have more time!
Thing 27 - Library Thing
This is great. I signed up and added some titles to my library but I'm having difficulty adding them to my blog. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong....rushing to complete the assignment..
Great source to find books of interests. Tags are great.

Thing 20 and 21 - Flickr and Tagging
Great photo sharing site. It was easy to use. I addded photo of my chocolate lab then searched for photos of other chocolate labs which led me to looking at the profiles of the person who posted the photo. Tagging helped me locate exactly what I was looking for.
Thing 18 - Technorati
When I searched learning 2.0 in the different advanced searches I got different results. Searching tags seemed to give better results. I searched bookmobiles in tags and found blogs written by a lot of quirky bookmobile geeks:)
Thing 12 - VBPL and IM
I have talked to several staff members who have worked IM. I hear that the questions are few and far between so we need to develop a plan to market the service and expand the hours.

Thing 17 - Deli.icio.us
A great centralized place where I can store my favorites and pull them up anywhere, anytime.!! I set up an account for this reason.
Things 15 and 16- Social Networks/MySpace
I'm too old for MySpace. I had to beg my kids to be my friends!!
I prefer to keep up with friends in person, over email or phone but I can see the appeal for people who may want to expand their network of friends.

Thing 14 - RA Wiki
I found it really easy to add my review to the RA Wiki. I like using wikis for booklist.
Wiki - Thing 13
I love the collaborative spirit but I'm concerned about the authority of the content.
I found many informative library Wikis. I thing we could use Wikis to create booklists, policies, documents, etc. Wikis could also be used to plan events. I tried using a Wiki to plan our bookmoible dedication but the majority of didn't like using the tool.

Thing 11 - Instant Messaging
IM is realtime and immediate and is really appealing to Millennials. I personally use IM to chat with my sister who lives in Texas.
IM is a great communication tool for the library. IM Reference is our first step and I'm sure there are other opportunities.

Thing 9 - RSS Feeds
Feeds are a good way to ensure I get the news that is most important to me. I subscribe to a few about libraries and early literacy.

Thing 5 Web 2.0
Web 2.0 provides libraries the opportunity to interact and engage users in ways we have never done before. Information and ideas flowing in both directions enables library staff and customers to continually shape library services and resources in a collaborative environment. The possibilities seem endless and our challenge will be keeping up with the advancing technology.
Thing 2 - 71/2 Lifelong Learning Habits
Most of the habits are easy for me except for #6 - "Use technology to your advantage"
I think I have difficulty with this because I don't feel competent with the technology. I think this training will jumpstart my learning and I am confident that I will learn something!
